mood: thankful

im thankful tt melissa has come to worship with us for the past 2 sundays. hope tt she finds us warm and friendly. hope tat she can stay wif us. i dunno th outcome, just leave it to God and hopefully we can cont to show hospitality to newcomers. in fact benny and melissa went to our youth fellowship on sunday. hope both of them enjoyed th prog and knew some of our yfers. i pray tat we can keep ppl / newcomers to stay wif us.

i had dinner with one coursemate ytd. her words had given me some thots. she does good to ppl and not expecting others to return favor to her cos she believes tat our good Lord will return favor to her thru other way, it may be thru ppl or .. etc, not necessary thru th one tat we show favor to. she will keep blessing ppl ard her. im moved by what she said...this reminds me cont to be a good counsellor in th helping profession...though it is indeed a v tough profession...cos not many ppl appreciate our assistance after clients have received help...hehex

the workshop was well received!!!

this is a good and successful workshop.
workshop title - "I want to drive you crazy!"
it's a parenting workshop...

Toa Payoh Methodist Church's sanctuary was filled with ppl.
i arrived at 235, and i had to sit on the 2nd level.
guess more than 600 ppl attended.

well i thk many parents and ppl who are in the helping profession benefited from this workshop.

the speaker was a fantastic one. her talk was filled with humor.
her examples were so real and practical and we could identify with her.
the speaker is Dr Xu Wei Su, from taiwan.
she is teaching in guo2 li taiwan shi fan da xue2.
educational psychology and counselling Asso. prof.
you wont feel sleepy though the talk lasted more than 1.5hr,
there were still many questions not answered cos the time was overshot.
anw, all participants were satisfied and benifited from her sharing.

im feeling fulfilling today cos time wasnt wasted even though i attended this parenting workshop.
thank you Lord. you are my shepherd and i shall not be in want (Ps 23:1).

I will have to leave th children from captain R soon...
before i leave, i wanna make bookmarks for them (14 in total).

these will be the bookmarks for all the children and volunteers and staff whom i know from this program. they are wonderful ppl with beautiful hearts.

I will be working at a FSC starting from 15 Feb 2007.
i find th whole process very amazing.
it's God who leads and provides.
i met somebody i dunno n we talked on th phone.
and she told me there's opening at their FSC.
finally, i sent in my application (15/1/07).
th ctr manager called me on th same day to arrange for interview.
th interview was a pleasant one and 2 days later,
th HR manager called me and wanting to meet up wif me.
and then all is done and work out well..

i've attended a training workshop on solution focused brief therapy - a strategy used with involuntarily clients on 25-26 jan 07. the speaker was fantastic and th trg was excellent (:
there will be a workshop conducted by this speaker,
title "i wanna drive you (parents) crazy!" at toa payoh methodist church
from 230-430pm.

this could be a good workshop that will definitely benefit a lot of parents (:

Job was offered to me at CC FSC

hurray! i indeed am thankful to God for his providence. i hope this can be a meaningful career for me. and i can reach out to many needy ppl, and i can bring the good news to them as well.

after i came out of the office after the interview, i walked towards the TP mrt, this elderly sat besides me. and i strike a conversation. she is friendly wif me and she shared tt actually she felt worrisome, but she does not realli know what causes tt. we chatted and she told me she sometimes went to this TP methodist church...but she does not realli feel anything for God sometimes.

she also said that her middle child who had passed on when she was 22. a yong lady just left her mother. this elderly seemed cant get over missing her daughter. i just sat besides her and listen to her story. she finds me v nice, dont know why, seems like we are quite "you3 yuan2"... haha .. xD
heyy, i feel tt she is my 1st client after i went for the job interview as a counsellor at CC FSC (:

On my way home, someone in a taxi stopped me and asked me direction where the nan qiao sec sch. i was glad i could show him the direction (:

is it all these encounters provide me opportunities to direct ppl not just to the direction they wanted to go, but to God who is the truth, the way and the life ... (John 14:6)

the p4-5 kids are going to visit the red cross home on 26jan07.
Today, we learned abt serving ppl with a humble and willing heart. we oso watched a video abt this person called nick who has no limbs, yet hes overcome a lot of difficulties in life and he can do many things tt a healthy person do. of course he takes a longer time to do those tasks. and hes become a motivational speaker who has spoken to many many students... his life has touched and moved many students... i am moved when i watched e video. i am fortunate and healthy, shouldnt i be contented in life and really bring blessing to other ppl ard me. shouldnt i live life with a grateful heart, and learn to help others and be humble.
there is a moment we hv feet washing, but then the kids felt weird, and not comfortable being washed the feet by others. so in the end, only 2 staffs and 4 of the volunteers did it. i washed my student's feet. i asked her has she ever do such thing to anyone.. she did tt for her mom sometimes when she came home from work. pheng siang and you dong are shy and felt uncomfortable doing tt for one another.
one thing abt you dong that is encouraging is that hes learnt to be humble thru the teaching frm e video...
if we are like one of those disable ppl, how then we face our life? hv we ever thot of counting the many blessing tt we receive everyday? indeed i hv thought a lot since last year, thk a lot abt life, abt ppl, abt the attitude i hv to live my life. now look at the life of nick, it has touched many lives... i believe hes has motivated many as well. i am still learning and observing ... reflecting and changing...i started to like the song "for grace alone"... it was played when we watched the video ...
how i want to live my life since it is so short?

Contented

i am contented with what i've now. i do not nd to worry abt life.
there are ppl out there do not have a job, or a shelter, or no food, no family ...
there are many elderly being abandoned by their own children.
there are ppl that drain u a lot, there are ppl who are nvr satisfied, and always complain.
there are many ppl who suffer from many diseases, some are not healthy, some are not wealthy...
when i think back, i've a shelter, have food, do not need to worry abt life, wat's more can i say?

i am just lacking a job now. i know i just nd to be optimistic, look for job, let God to guide me, i nd to be contented oso. and cont to live life cheerfully and gratefully.
thank you Lord for everything you've given me...

1. completed counselling course in 2006 dec - a v challenging and fruitful training, better understand `self`, maintaining neutrality, show empathy, be with the ppl, able to do self reflection ...
2. fei yue field placement - an eye opener - frm v poor family to v ugly side of human being
3. church - revealed more of its ugly side, lack passion for ppl, many ppl leave church, running activities & programs but has lost e love along the way.
4. good ub camp (1st spiritual ubcamp: 10-13dec 2006)
5. yfexco 2007 - all new members
6. many daoshi in youth ministry 2007 -henry, mich, pam, ym, hw, ja, yl, ty, gw, jx
7. many good memories - nice trip to melbourne, memorable x'mas evangelistic rally (yao hong still ard in 2005 - he acted in the skit on the x'mas eve nite). he passed on in the beginning of 2006.
8. `bad things` happened to us - ppl gossiping ... good trial and we withstand the test... praise the Lord.
9. yongliang's wedding on 16.12.2006 - gw and i were the emcees. our marriage aniversary is on 17dec. many ppl love to get married in december ...

kw and i saw the fireball star on 7.1.2007 when we were outside kw's mom house. it was around 8~9pm after we had the birthday dinner. kw's uncle and aunt were there witnessed it too. at that moment we were wondering what was that star. it ran across e sky v fast. the news of the fireball star was out on 8.1.2007.
we are lucky to see the beautiful shooting star.

Surprise frm God today!!!

I was reading this article of the Methodist Message, and felt tt there are so much we could learn from it. I felt quite down and quite discouraged ytd, in fact i was searching 4 an ans past few months ... yet God knows my need and speaks to me this morning... hahaz ... im amazed!!
Thank you Lord, you are good. you are good all the times.
Title of the article is "Watch your life and doctrine closely".

part of it goes like this:
"You are brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching - trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine. You have been trained in words (theological training, etc). But words must be accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit who alone can produce conviction and change of life in ppl.
"Train yourself to be godly. You were trained, now cont training yourself, and the focus of the training is towards godliness."

What's godliness? How does it look like?
"It looks like Christ, for He is the Model of godliness. To train yourself to be godly means to become like Christ, your Master." It means spending time with Jesus, to leran frm Him, to be a true disciple of His, and to be so infused with His Spirit tt the fruit of the Spirit will shine thru your lives.

Respect your pastors, dont look down on them. Observe your pastors. If they are good, you will learn a lot by precept and example. If you see progress in your pastors, encourage them. The inner life of a pastor is of utmost importance. Mission naturally follows the life. A weaker inner life will result in the erosion of the soul, and decreasing effectiveness in ministry. We may build institutions but they will nvr last or touch the inner lives of ppl. We may speak a lot of words but they would hv no healing or transforming power. We may teach methods but they cannot change ppl deeply. We may give a lot of advice but we can nvr give true spiritual direction.

Godliness helps us to discern. To know bet tt which is central and the peripheral. What is impt and what is not. What is truth and what is not. Character is essential. Godliness results in a life lived in hope - in the living God, the Savior. We teach not just by precept but by example. We must not only tell, but show how to live as a disciple of Christ. We must be living examples of the spiritual life, and of Christian maturity.

Do not neglect the gift. The key gift of teaching and preaching, caring for the flock, etc, can be neglected cos the distortions of modern ministry. We must be diligent. Diligence means tt we do our ministry well, whether we are observed or not. we prepare sermons well. We visit ppl with a real desire to minister. We give our hearts and minds in preparing and leading worship, teaching, preaching, caring, mentoring.

Watching life and ministry is nvr easy. There are so many other things to do, so many distractions. Also those who do this well often face serious difficulties and challenges, severe spiritual attacks, cos such ministers are really effective and the devil does not like this. this is why Paul uses the word 'persevere'. Hang on. Be faithful. Fulfill your ministry.

The result is that we will be saved ourselves. But watching our live and ministry will also save our hearers and those we minister to. It means that our ministry will really be effective, tt we will really be able to touch ppl's live, and tt ppl will really find salvation for their souls frm our ministry.

Watch your life and ministry. Keep your focus on your inner life in Christ. Faithfully discharge your key duties.

One week has passed!

today is my bday.
yfers sang me a bday song.
kok wei promised to get me a new camera, canon ixus 850.
i shall wait and go with him to buy the camera.

we had dinner with kok wei's family in the evening.
we celebrated the bday of SY whose bday was on 6jan.
kok wei's niece, jacinth bday is on 18/1 and meng gek's is on 22/1, and mine is on 7/1.
in fact, we had celebrated 4 ppl bday.
during dinner time, kokwei's nephew, jerald was very happy cos he was selected to be class monitor this year.
and jun'an, his teacher, had told kok wei and i the good news.
in fact jerald said he is the chairman of his class. `chairman' means `class monitor`.
haha, he is happy to be in service for his class.
we teased jerald tt we would know of everything about him in the future.
regardless good or bad thing about him, the whole world will know it soon :(
jerald's sister, jacinth was happy too, and she played with the flower at the dinner.
she came to hug me when she left `nai nai`'s house :(
she is very adorable and she likes to post in front of the camera... hahaz ...

there was an indian frm sri lanka came to attend our service this morning. he comes here to work.
fidelia's father comes back to join us in the 9am service.
we have a new student frm TTC who is having her attachment here in hcmc.

today, we also talked abt the re-shuffling of ppl who serve in the worship service for sundays.
there is a lack of man power.
guess we hv to encourage more ppl to volunteer their service.

initially i had teased kok wei tt i wanted to disappear frm the church.
there is always a lack of manpower. and we always have to look for ppl to volunteer their service.
Lord, pls hear our prayers and ans them according to your will and your timing.
Holy spirit, touches the heart of men and moves them to step fwd to serve you.
we trust tt Lord you are our shepherd and we shall not be in want (Ps 23:1).

4.1.2007

1. changed a new blogskin.
2. bought some paint-pens and art papers. wanna make birthday cards.
3. started e bible reading plan ytd, i.e. to read 3 chapters everyday. i wish to finish reading the bible once this year. realise human being would put e blame onto others, just like adam & eve, dun admit the mistakes made..sigh..same for us here and now. we disobey what God has commanded, and we blame others, we find fault frm others...are we REALLY a good person?
4. realise i am not v discipline. perhaps i hv not got a full time job. and i dont like to work frm home. i nd to work with ppl.

* must be mindful tt i can oso finding fault frm others and push away the blame to others.
* finished reading Gen 4-6 today... heehee (learn to be like Noah, he is a righteous person in the eye of the Lord)..

Energised

rec'd a bday card ytd (3.1.2007). it's a lovely card made by sharon Goh who is the conference youth worker of the board of youth ministry. im moved.

wanna go bras baser, art friend later to buy some stuff. have decided to make cards for yfers on their bday. this is one of my 2007 resolution.

have started reading Gen 1-3 this morning. wanna read e bible once this year.
im serious in studying and sharing God's words with others this year.
wanna bless others cos i've rec'd many blessings from our good Lord.
